A brief overview for a Better Social Media Architecture

Post by circuitbored » Sat Mar 23, 2024 6:13 pm

I wrote this on a Saturday, because I know the most thoughtful and genuine idea makers, the most disruptive idea makers, and the most inquisitive business minds, work all week long... It's also a time when the content crawlers (and often predatory) "normal business machine" is in weekend mode --

I write here for human beings, not for bots that only pay attention to editorialize ideas from others into their own words.

There are many great discussions concerning federation going on right now, as it's an important topic in consideration of how to maintain credit for human generated content. In providing opportunity for human upward mobility in the quickly expanding landscape of Ai deployment, we're always considering how technology can be adjusted to help human upward mobility and and intellectual property protection, as that is the very basis of our ability to develop upward mobility in this world...

Regardless what a web app's EULA provides for on it, there is a particularly deep injustice in creating any platform that invites uncompensated human contributors to interact while turning around to harvest and then sell their work and ideas at a premium price, even to the very same people that originally fed these knowledge sources.

Moving forward, Ai will face great (and potentially devastating) scrutiny for it's questionable ownership and use of the human intellectual information it provides and leverages. It's important now to develop a model for social media that can allow proper credit to original information authors, while also linking back to said authors.

I'd like to believe that below is the ground work for a solution that enables a potentially better, more credible, more simple, and more effective roll out of our human ideas and thoughts:

A super-light (fully open source) CMS that can be run efficiently as a public-facing web site/page on any host provider with capability to support and edit text, audio file, and video file content uploads and display. Post quality on individual CMS instances would NOT be based on likes or views in this case, as that information would need to be hosted by a more secured and governed authority, without the potential of easily being corrupted or gamed.

Every aspect of this solution would need to be "open" and real-time in nature as a basis. Post content would not be firewalled behind log-ins, nor restricted to smaller audiences, unless it's offline content by nature, shared in private conversations offline. The code from the CMS should be open source by nature, to allow for independent evaluation & regulation throughout it's life cycle.

The content creator could log in securely and back up or download their entire "CMS instance" onto their mobile phone, or to memory stick (for examples), and design their instance easily with basic CSS or configuration, or simply apply custom templates to change the design of their individual site/page.

Public aggregators (working via RSS) to syndicate content from user sites that they pick or integrate in part or whole, with the ability for registered users to submit links from their individual sites as posts.

Aggregator sites could be both small (specialized) sites and apps dedicated to specific topics or niches, and also larger sites geared towards multi-topic posts and content creators. By applying the basic syndication model, these aggregator sites could be designed independently and run by individuals or businesses for any purpose, provided that the content syndicated retains it's basic credit and link back to the originator.

Content publishers can completely control visibility for content on their own CMS instances, they can also potentially upload and delete content for sale (digital music, articles, books, images, merchandise) and manage it all within their local UI. These sale items can be embedded or linked to within content posts them make and syndicated across the sites their posts are shared on.

There will need to be a method of exchanging compensation in this model, that allows for-profit sites that syndicate authors to pay authors, for musicians, authors, and artists to be able to sell their work, for viewers to purchase physical products etc..

There will also need to be a communication method for this model, that will work across syndication sites, apps, and individual sites to help people to connect, negotiate business, send work samples, collaborate, and organize efforts. It will need to be secure and work uniformly and universally without being overburdening to a work-life balance.

I know what you're saying right now, these things already exist.. and yes they do in many ways and parts, but the way they integrate right now is not reliable, simply designed, scalable, and and uniform. Thus adoption has been extremely slow, and the learning curve is very high -- All of which make the ease of use of monolithic/turn-key social media much more appealing. Another huge question is how to ensure visibility for as many creators as possible -- This is insured by crediting the content creators, similarly credibility for content and quality is based on their accreditation achieved through posting reliable and noteworthy information.

I'd be happy to discuss this ideal/vision further and to collaborate with others that would like to build this further.

What I have shared here is just a brief overview of the vision we have for an ideal setting for business collaboration and a more effective online social community. To get in touch to discuss more details, or even early investment potential, you can reach us at info@circuitbored.com
